At the Red Lion we use Bourbon Espresso by Darlington's of London.

A blend of single estate Brasil coffees from the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais(40%), Central America(30%) and Indonesia(30%).

Bourbon coffees are the original strain of beans that date back to the first plantings in South and Central America, before the present day hybrids were developed.

Bourbon trees take three times as long to mature and do not yield as heavily as the hybrid varieties, but the beans produce cup characteristics that are far more intense and complex, than any other variety.

Cerrado coffees are well known for their fantastic balance of body and sweetness. The Cerrado region is approximately 1,000 metres above sea level and quite flat with relatively low rainfall, and hence relying on irrigation systems to produce the unique characteristics.

Coffees with very specific cup characteristics are chosen from a collection of Central American countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala or El Salvador. They need to have a perfect balance of body, light acidity and flavour.

We are proud of the origins of our coffee and to work with Darlingtons the best Independent Coffee supplier in the Uk in our opinion.
